We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise at the Institute of Anatomy and Molecular Neurobiology. Here, our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of synapse formation and neurotransmission. We investigate the role of the synaptic organizer molecules neurexins and the consequences of their defects in mutant mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders, including the crosstalk between neurexins and synaptic Ca²⁺ channels in vitro and in vivo – ideally with you on board!

Responsibilities:

  • Investigating the role of neurexins and the consequences of their defects in mutant mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Studying the crosstalk between neurexins and synaptic Ca²⁺ channels in vitro and in vivo
  • Contributing to the Institute’s teaching activities according to your qualifications and experience

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in neuroscience or a related field, including a PhD or MD/PhD
  • Strong publication record demonstrating motivation for basic science
  • Extensive experience with electrophysiological and microscopic techniques for analyzing synaptic function in brain slices or cultured neurons
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team

We offer:

  • Salary according to TV-L E13, extra annual payment, and company pension plan (VBL)
  • 30 days of vacation per year, plus two additional days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
  • A wide range of training and professional development opportunities
  • A respectful and appreciative work environment within a diverse team
  • Support and advisory services for health and work-life balance
  • Additional benefits such as sports programs, job ticket, jobrad, company events, cafeteria, and emergency childcare
  • The possibility of obtaining your postdoctoral lecture qualification (“Habilitation”)
