Student Assistant - Hertie India Initiative (gn)
The Hertie India Initiative seeks to build meaningful partnerships with educational and policy institutions in India. These partnerships are meant to contribute to Hertie’s growing student body from India, as well as to its alumni community. The Student Assistant will report to the Director Recruitment, Admissions, Digital Marketing and Student Finance and collaborates closely with the Hertie India representative function based out of India.
Student Assistant (gn)
part-time (15 hours/week). The start of the contract should be 15 November 2026, and the desired term is at least 24 months.
Your tasks:
- Assisting with project conceptualization through landscape research and preparing concept notes.
- Managing overall program monitoring and evaluation by tracking progress on individual projects and partnerships.
- Conducting partner outreach activities, which includes staying abreast of institutional activities and drafting newsletters.
- Conducting research on topics relevant to Indo-German relations, Indo-European relations and key policy topics relevant to each geography that match Hertie’s expertise.
- Assisting in building key partnerships of Hertie-India initiative at the academic, government and diplomatic levels.
- Coordinating towards travel and logistics planning for delegation visits to India.
- Supporting in preparing briefs for academic/diplomatic/government engagements.
- Assistance in the planning and implementation of policy events relevant to India students and Hertie’s India partners in Berlin.
- Social media: Managing the Hertie School – India Network LinkedIn Page including content ideation, planning, and creation. Develop strategies and execute engaging, creative, and innovative content for the LinkedIn Page, by working closely with Hertie School Communications office.
- Fostering meaningful connections with Hertie students from India, collecting relevant feedback towards curriculum, administration, and German language-learning.
Your profile:
- Enrollment at the Hertie School as part of the 2028 Cohort. Candidates with in-depth knowledge of India and/or South Asia will be given preference.
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience which involved you working in public policy, international development, or international relations.
- Initial experience in social media management, especially LinkedIn.
- Proficient in content creation using design tools.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Agile and independent way of working.
- Organizational strength, communication skills, reliability and flexibility.
- Initial experience in event organization and project management is desirable.
