Your responsibilities
A PhD position in my group at the Department of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany, University of Zurich, is available starting 1st of January 2027 for a period of four years. The position is to study the evolution of human-plant interactions, with a special focus in Amazonia. It will involve lab work, participatory fieldwork in collaboration with Amazonian communities, and bioinformatics. I offer a collaborative environment and a vibrant international team. You will have the chance to work with our international network of academic and indigenous partners.
Your profile
I am looking for a highly motivated and creative candidate. A formal requirement is a Master degree in any field of biology. Demonstrable skills in bioinformatics are expected. A genuine interest in interdisciplinary research to integrate ethnobotanical, metabolomic, and genomic data is highly desirable. Proficiency in English, both orally and written is essential; proficiency in spoken Spanish to work with Amazonian collaborators is desirable.
