The Chair of Metaphysics (Prof. Dr. Alyssa Ney) investigates metaphysical topics from an analytical perspective, aiming for an approach that is scientifically based, historically informed, and socially engaged.
Your tasks and responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program in metaphysics and the philosophy of physics, including on metaphysical questions related to QBism and/or quantum information theory. They will also be expected to participate in the weekly group activities of the ERC project. The position will include some administrative tasks, such as the organization of workshops.
Your qualifications
Candidates are required to have a doctorate in philosophy, with an AOS in Philosophy of Physics and Metaphysics. Additional background training in physics is welcome. This is a research-only position, and all work will be conducted in English.
Benefits
The Chair of Metaphysics in the Faculty of Philosophy at LMU Munich invites applications for two postdoc positions in a European Research Council supported project on the metaphysics of quantum physics. These are fixed term (non-tenure track) postdoctoral positions that run for three years. The starting date is January 15, 2027.
Remuneration is based on the TV-L E13 pay scale (100%). The Chair of Metaphysics is a vibrant center of research at LMU Munich, which hosts regular workshops, a colloquium series, and other events through the academic year.
